Volunteer To Help Our Community

Volunteer With Second Service

Second Service was founded on the belief that no senior or person with limited mobility in Alamance County should struggle alone with everyday tasks. From changing a light bulb to raking leaves, from setting up a phone to picking up groceries, our volunteers provide practical help and something even more valuable: peace of mind.

When you volunteer with Second Service, you are not just completing a task. You are restoring dignity. You are strengthening community. You are becoming the extra set of hands someone may not have anymore.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life veterans, students, retirees, working professionals united by one simple commitment: neighbors helping neighbors.

We ask our volunteers to bring:

  • A compassionate attitude

  • Reliability and integrity

  • Respect for the homes and privacy of those we serve

  • A willingness to serve without expectation

In return, you will gain:

  • The satisfaction of meaningful service

  • Direct impact in your local community

  • Connections with residents who value your time

  • The opportunity to continue a tradition of service

All services are provided free of charge, and all volunteers are expected to uphold the standards and mission of Second Service.

If you believe service to community is a lifelong calling, we invite you to stand with us.
Together, we can ensure that no one in our community feels alone when help is needed.
